Alexander is best known as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller, who starred in four series of Armstrong and Miller and The Armstrong and Miller Show.

In 2020, Alexander took over from John Suchet on Classic FM's to host their flagship weekday mid-morning programme. He is also audio-recognisable for his work on animations such as Hey Duggee, Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly.

He continues to be a regular on the BBC series Have I Got News For You, having hosted more than 25 times and has co-presented the hugely popular TV quiz show Pointless, alongside Richard Osman since 2009.

In 2019, Alexander featured in the hilarious film adaption of Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans alongside an all-star cast including Nick Frost and Kim Cattrall.

In November 2019, he also toured his one-man stage show All Mouth and Some Trousers around the UK, bringing him firmly back to his comedy roots. The stage show saw Alexander exploring the characters, the strange adventures and the mad twist and turns he encountered throughout his career.

After the massive success of the BAFTA-nominated show The Real Full Monty in 2018, Alexander returned for the third series show The All-New Monty: Who Bares Wins alongside Ashley Banjo. Together they led a new group of celebrities and joined forces to take to the stage and bare all for the biggest and most daring extravaganza to raise awareness of cancers in the intimate areas of the body. That year he also presented The Classic BRIT Awards alongside Myleene Klass and launched ITV's The Imitation Game, a comedy panel show with a celebrity twist that sees top impressionists challenged to perform their big-name impersonations in a series of witty rounds and hilarious games.

In 2015, having already published three books, two more hit the shelves, The A-Z of Pointless, co-authored with Richard Osman and Land of The Midnight Sun, in which Alexander documented his adventures during his two-month trip to the Arctic for ITV.
